MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

A) ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

  • This category is intended for the general public, non-practicing herbalists, students, authors, teachers, herb growers, or anyone with an interest in herbs. This category has a non-voting status.

An Associate Member:

  • Receive the CHAofBC newsletters published during the year.
  • May attend Annual General Meeting (AGM) meetings (but have no voting rights).
  • May participate in board subcommittees.
  • May attend lectures and receive member discounts and rates.
  • May observe board meeting (with pre-approval).
  • Annual Fee :
    • $30 per year -- Basic Associate Membership.
      STUDENTS -- a Promotional Limited Time Offer: JOIN NOW and the association will waive the Basic Associate Membership fees.
    • $50.00 per year -- Basic Associate Membership with an entry on the directory listing.
    • $150.00 per year -- Basic Associate Membership with an entry on the directory listing, and a promotional web-page.
    • $200.00 per year -- Basic Associate Membership with an entry on the directory listing, a promotional web-page, and may promote their personal incoming herbal events on the "event & news" page.

B) CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP

  • This category is intended for herbal institutions, suppliers, businesses of herbal products, and who would like to become CHA of BC sponsors. This category has a non-voting status.

A Corporate Member:

  • Post a banner on our website.
  • Receive discounts on ads for our newsletter and booth tables.
  • Are acknowledged as official sponsors at our meetings and CHA of BC lectures.
  • Annual Fee:
    • $100 per year -- Basic Corporate Membership.
    • $200.00 per year -- Basic Corporate Membership with entry on the directory listing and a promotional web-page.
    • $300.00 per year -- Basic Corporate Membership with entry on the directory listing, a promotional web-page, and may promote their incoming herbal events on the "event & news" page.

C) PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP - Registered Herbal Therapist (RHT)

  • This category is intended for practicing herbal practitioners (see below).
  • All applicants must appear before a peer review board set up by the association to evaluate and determine if applicant meets the necessary qualifications.
  • Out of province members will maintain all rights issued to members within the province of BC, and in addition to meeting all of the prerequisites to holding membership, shall be responsible to meet all of their own provincial regulations. 

A Professional Member:

  • Have all the benefits of the Associate membership, and in addition:
  • Have voting rights.
  • May run for Board of Director positions after one year membership.
  • Are listed in the CHAofBC webiste directory listing.
  • May promote their personal incoming herbal events on the "Events & News page" of the website.
  • Insurance is recommended. 
  • Annual Fee:
    • A one time initial administration fee: $40.00, plus:
    • $50 per year -- Basic Professional Membership.
    • Promotional Limited Time Offer: JOIN NOW and get a promotional web-page free of charge (valued at $100.00).

A Herbal Practitioner is an individual trained (from different traditions and avenues of learning, whether academic, apprenticeship or otherwise) in the practice of herbal medicine who:

  • is trained in the therapeutic use of crude botanical medicines;
  • primarily uses traditional preparations* of crude botanical material; and
  • is qualified** and competent to take this responsibility and be held accountable for their recommendations.

* Traditional preparations include, but are not limited to: tinctures, teas, capsules, infusions, decoctions, syrups, plasters, poultices, oils, liniments, ointments, fomentations, salves, etc.

** Appropriate qualification could include formal training, self-study, apprenticeship model and others.
