ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

This category is intended for: the general public, students, herbal enthusiastic, and herbalists (i.e. herb grwers, educators, manufactures, retailers, etc) that do not yet meet the requirements for Professional membership.

Benefits:

  • May attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
  • Members in this category do not have voting rights, and cannot run for board positions but may participate in board subcommittees, and may observe board meeting (with pre-approval).

Annual Fee:

  • $30 per year -- Basic Associate Membership.
    STUDENTS -- a Limited Time Offer -- JOIN NOW and the association will waive the Membership fees.
  • Membership options available to Associate Herbalists:
  • $50.00 per year ($100 after June 2011) -- Associate Membership with directory listing.
  • $150.00 per year ($200 after June 2011) -- Associate Membership with directory listing, and a promotional web-page.
  • $200.00 per year ($300 after June 2011) --Associate Membership with directory listing, a promotional web-page, and be able to promote personal herbal events on the "event & news" page of the CHA of BC website.

CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP

This category is intended for herbal institutions, suppliers, businesses of herbal products, and who would like to become CHA of BC sponsors. This category has a non-voting status.

Benefits:

  • Sponsors have a banner on website.
  • Receive eNewsletter, and announcements.
  • Members in this category do not have voting rights, and cannot run for board positions.
  • Receive discounts on ads for our newsletter and booth tables.
  • Are acknowledged as official sponsors at our meetings and CHA of BC lectures.

Annual Fee:

  • $100 per year -- Basic Corporate Membership.
  • $300.00 per year -- Corporate Membership and be able to promote their incoming herbal events on the "event & news" page.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP
Registered Herbal Therapist (RHT)

This category is intended for Active full-time or part-time Herbal Therapists.

Requirements and Benefits:

  • At least 2500hr of training (i.e. formal education, apprenticeship, self-training, etc. Years of experience are taking into account).
  • The applicant most appear in person for an interview with a Peer-review Panel set up by the Association to evaluate requirements and competence as a herbal therapist (in the case of self-training, the applicant may be required to take a written entrance examination). If the application is accepted, the aplicant must attend the following AGM to participate on the oath taking ceremony.
  • Continuing education (20 hours/year).
  • Insurance is recommended.
  • Appear on the online directory, may post personal herbal-events ads on Events-and-News page.
  • For a fee, may have a web-page (complementary today).
  • Receive eNewsletter, and announcements.
  • Have access to login pages (when available).
  • Members have voting rights.
  • Members may run for board positions.
  • Board of Directors: made of 70-to-100% from RHT members.

Annual Fee:

  • To join: $90.00 ($50 for the membership fee + $40.00 initial administration fee. Note: starting June 2011, the membership fee will be$100.00).
  • Renewal: $50.00 per year (starting June 2011, the fee will be $100.00).

A Herbal Therapist is an individual trained (from different traditions and avenues of learning, whether academic, apprenticeship or otherwise) in the practice of herbal medicine who:

  • is trained in the therapeutic use of crude botanical medicines;
  • primarily uses traditional preparations* of crude botanical material; and
  • is qualified** and competent to take this responsibility and be held accountable for their recommendations.

* Traditional preparations include, but are not limited to: tinctures, teas, capsules, infusions, decoctions, syrups, plasters, poultices, oils, liniments, ointments, fomentations, salves, etc.

** Appropriate qualification could include formal training, self-study, apprenticeship model and others.


PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP

Herbal Advocate (HA)

This category is intended for herbal manufacturers, educators, authors, retailers, consultants, charter herbalists, wise women, etc., and herbal therapists that do not yet meet the requirements for RHT membership.

Requirements and Benefits:

  • At least 1000hr of training (i.e. formal education, apprenticeship, self-training, etc. Years of experience are taking into account).
  • Continuing education (10 hours/year).
  • Insurance were applicable is recommended.
  • Appear on the online directory, and may post personal Herbal Events ads on Events-and-News page.
  • For a fee, may have a web-page (complementary today).
  • Receive eNewsletter, and announcements.
  • Have access to login pages when available.
  • Members have voting rights.
  • Members may run for some board positions. However, Board of Directors may only have up to 30% directors from this category (since the Association is mainly an Association of herbal therapists).
